  • Cayucos Pier

    Originally built in 1872 by the founder of the town, Captain James Cass, the Cayucos Pier was completely rebuilt in 2017 and offers panoramic views and licence-free fishing. 

  • Hearst Castle

    Travel back in time and discover the enchanting and bizarre estate of William Randolph Hearst, a museum like no other. Each guided tour includes an IMAX film, "Building the Dream" and access to freely walk around the gardens and pools of the castle.

  • Elephant Seal Rookery

    The northern elephant seal, Mirounga angustirostris, is an extraordinary marine mammal. It spends eight to ten months a year in the open ocean, diving 1000 to 5800 feet deep for periods of fifteen minutes to two hours, and migrating thousands of miles, twice a year, to its land-based rookery for birthing, breeding, molting, and rest. Piedras Blancas is a great place to view these remarkable creatures during their time onshore.

  • Morro Rock

    Morro Rock, a State Historic Landmark, was formed about 23 million years ago from the plugs of long-extinct volcanoes. Morro Rock was an important navigational aid for mariners for over 300 because the rock is approximately 576 feet tall which made it the most visible in a chain of 9 peaks.

  • Montana De Oro

    This park features rugged cliffs, secluded sandy beaches, coastal plains, streams, canyons, and hills, including 1,347-foot Valencia Peak. Naturalists and backpackers enjoy the solitude and freedom found along the park's trails. There are also mountain biking and equestrian trails. The best-known beach is Spooner's Cove. The park's name, "Mountain of Gold," comes from the golden wildflowers that bloom in spring. Wildlife in the park includes black tailed deer and the black oystercatcher.

  • Bubblegum Alley

    Bubblegum Alley is a quirky attraction in downtown San Luis Obispo, California, known for its accumulation of used bubble gum on the walls of an alley. It is a 15-foot high and 70-foot long alley lined with chewed gum left by passers-by. 

  • Bishops Peak Hiking Trail

    Located right off Highway 1, Bishops Peak is a nice steep hike that provides amazing vistas of the town and coast. It is 3.5 miles round trip, but does about 1000 feet of elevation gain during that short hike and is not a walk in the park.

  • Pirate's Cove

    During the Prohibition Era, 1919-1933, Cave Landing became a favorite spot for rum runners evading the Coast Guard and U.S. Revenue authorities. Now, this beautiful cove is one of the best known clothing-optional beaches in the country. Did someone say, "no tan lines"?
